- Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicentre trial
- Participants
- 100 women aged 20 to 30 with moderate primary dysmenorrhoea (VAS 4 to 6)
- Intervention
- Gingeren™ at 200 mg a day, or placebo, through three menstrual cycles, after two baseline cycles
- Measured
- Primary: menstrual pain on the VAS and dysmenorrhoea severity on the WaLIDD score. Secondary: menstrual distress (MEDI-Q), menstrual blood flow, sexual function (FSFI), sexual quality of life and general wellness. Exploratory: the PGF2α biomarker, the vaginal microbiome and estrogen levels

Improved with regular consumption, while placebo declined. ***p < 0.001 vs placebo.
Across all six domains: desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction and comfort. ****p < 0.0001.

The vaginal microbiome and estrogen levels stayed unchanged.
No clinically meaningful safety concerns: safe for use.
