Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, three arms against placebo
Participants
128 healthy adults aged 18 to 50 with a macular pigment optical density (MPOD) of 0.20 to 0.35
Intervention
Xanthogreen®, Xanthogreen® TOS or Xanthogreen® ULTRA, or placebo, for 90 days
Measured
MPOD by flicker photometry at 0.25°, 0.5° and 1° from the fovea on days 0, 15, 30, 60 and 90; secondary outcomes were contrast sensitivity, visual processing speed, intraocular pressure and dry eye symptoms
